Bio

Vitor Pereira is a London-based guitarist and composer known for his distinctive voice at the crossroads of jazz, classical, and film music.

Born in Porto, Portugal, Vitor came to music later than most, picking up the guitar for the first time at the age of 15. He began by studying classical music and guitar, but soon developed a deep passion for jazz. His curiosity led him to attend several jazz seminars across Europe, where he studied with acclaimed musicians such as Pat Metheny, Jonathan Kreisberg, Aaron Goldberg, and Gilad Hekselman, among others.

In 2004, Vitor moved to London to pursue a degree in Jazz Performance at Middlesex University. Since then, he has become an active presence in both the UK and Portuguese jazz scenes, performing alongside leading artists including Binker Golding, Asaf Sirkis, Alex Hitchcock, George Crowley, João Mortágua, and Marc Demuth.

Vitor has steadily built a reputation as an innovative composer and bandleader, primarily through his own projects. With his long-running Vitor Pereira Quintet, he has released four critically acclaimed studio albums: Doors (2012), New World (2016), Somewhere in the Middle (2018), and Jung (2022). That same year, he also debuted Electric Chamber, the first EP from his chamber jazz quartet blurring the lines between modern jazz and contemporary classical music.

In recent years, triggered by a global pandemic, Vitor’s creative path has expanded to include film composition. He earned a Master’s degree in Music Composition for Film and TV from the University of West London, graduating with distinction in 2024. Since then, he has composed original scores for numerous short films, several of which have earned nominations for Best Original Score at international film festivals.
